Philadelphia Wants to Dethrone Patriots At SuperBowl

The Philadelphia Eagles will be facing the New England Patriots in Superbowl 2018 for the second time in franchise history and they are hoping things turn out better the second time around.

The first meeting between the two teams ended up becoming the coronation of the Patriots as a dynasty after they won their third Super Bowl title in four years at the expense of the Eagles. This season, the Patriots have the opportunity to win their third Super Bowl in four years again, but this time around, the Eagles don’t have any intention to lose again.

The Eagles opened as -5.5 point underdogs in Superbowl betting, but Lane Johnson isn’t intimidated.

“I know,” Johnson said. “Hey, Tom Brady. Pretty boy Tom Brady. He’s the best quarterback of all time, so, nothing I’d like to do more than dethrone that guy.”

Malcolm Jenkins also doesn’t believe the Patriots are unbeatable.

“Greatest quarterback of all time, but that doesn’t mean that he’s unbeatable,” safety Malcolm Jenkins said. “We’ve got a destination that we’re geared to. No matter who’s in front of us, we’ve got somewhere to go.”

Eagles’ owner Jeffrey Lurie echoed that sentiment after his team defeated the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship Game en route to Superbowl LII.

“We’re not only going to Minneapolis,” he said, “we have something to do in Minneapolis. One more win.”

Johnson added that it would be great for the Eagles to defeat the team that cost them an opportunity to win their first Super Bowl trophy in 2004.

“For what they did to us in [the] 2004 [season], to get payback, there would be nothing sweeter than that,” Johnson said. “I remember watching that game when I was 14 years old. I was hoping the Eagles would win. Just coming up short, you could feel the pain, and you could also feel the passion of what this city wants. And we’re here, so it’s right at our fingertips.”
